Denny Hamlin joined his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Chase Briscoe in the NASCAR Cup Series round of 12 with his Sunday win at World Wide Technology Raceway.

Hamlin led 75 of the 240 laps and beat out Briscoe for the top spot in the second race of the round of 16.

Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano rounded out the top five for the Enjoy Illinois 300.

Hamlin’s win placed him into the round of 12 along with Briscoe.

The pair of Joe Gibbs Racing drivers are the two winners so far in the round of 16, which concludes next Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The full updated NASCAR playoff standings can be found here on the NASCAR website.

Kyle Larson, Tyler Reddick and Ryan Blaney are all in solid position to advance to the round of 12 on points.

All three of those drivers reside 40+ points ahead of the cut line. Bubba Wallace, Christopher Bell, William Byron and Christopher Bell all appear to be in good shape as well.

The bottom four in the playoff standings are anywhere from 15 to 45 points beneath the round of 12 cut line.

Josh Berry and Alex Bowman are in the worst spots in the round of 16. Berry finished 36th on Sunday, while Bowman placed in 26th.

Both of those drivers likely need a win at Bristol in order to keep their championship hopes alive.

Shane Van Gisbergen and Austin Dillon can still advance on points, but they need might need some help to catch Austin Cindric in 12th place .

Dillon had a top-10 finish at Bristol in April. He should have the most hope of the four drivers in 13th through 16th to jump into the top 12.

Larson, Hamlin, Briscoe and Blaney all had top-five finishes earlier in the season at Bristol, so we could see dominance from the top drivers in the playoff standings to close out the round of 16.
