PHOENIX — To once again honor the lives lost and families forever changed on Sept. 11, 2001, the city of Tempe is hosting Healing Field as a tribute.

The Exchange Club of Tempe will oversee the four-day event from Thursday to the following Monday morning.

Community volunteers will kick it off at 5:46 a.m., the same time the first plane hit the World Trade Center, and close the ceremony at 6 a.m. by setting up and taking down thousands of U.S. flags. The flags will be placed all around Tempe Beach Park.

Besides viewing the flag display, those in attendance will be able to see a patriotic concert and participate in a 5K run.
