Pearl concert spot Stable Hall has tapped Garrett Zimmerman, a 15-year veteran of overseeing live music venues, as its new general manager, officials said Monday.

Zimmerman previously served as operation director for Arkansas-based TempleLive, a company that transformed historic buildings into concert and events venues in its home state along with Texas, Ohio, Illinois and Kansas. TempleLive last week cancelled a spate of concerts and appears to be winding down operations, according to multiple press reports.

At TempleLive, Zimmerman oversaw projects ranging from full-scale venue renovations to the launch of new entertainment projects, according to Monday’s statement from Potluck Hospitality, which runs Stable Hall.

“Garrett is an enthusiastic leader with an impeccable eye for detail, a talent for driving growth and creating memorable experiences for both guests and staff,” Potluck Managing Director Ryan Howard said in the statement. “His passion for live music and community engagement is exactly what Stable Hall needs to remain a vibrant hub for artists and audiences in the heart of Pearl.”

Reopened in January 2024 to serve as a top-tier live music venue, the historic Pearl Stable once housed the Pearl Brewery’s draft horses.

The design for the 1,000-seat facility was modeled after classic Texas dance halls, and it operates with an eclectic booking policy that includes national, regional and San Antonio-based acts across genres including roots, county, Latin, rock, hip-hop and more.

Zimmerman arrives as Stable Hall’s ownership fights a court battle with Wood Hall LLC, the Dallas-based company originally hired to run the venue’s music operations. In a suit filed this March, Wood Hall accused the Stable Hall’s ownership team of illegally terminating its contract — a charge Potluck officials denied.

Three months before Wood Hall filed its suit, veteran San Antonio music scene veteran Libby Day revealed her abrupt departure as Stable Hall’s general manager after roughly a year on the job.

In Potluck’s Monday statement, Zimmerman pledged to step up the energy level of the venue while sticking with its commitment to showcase both national and local artists.

“We have all the ingredients to make this a top destination for music in San Antonio,” Zimmerman said. “My goal is to bolster the calendar with a wide range of national and local acts to offer the dynamic programming that iconic venues like Stable Hall are known for.”
