1. Appeals court upholds E. Jean Carroll’s $83.3 million defamation judgment against Trump

A federal appeals court has upheld a civil jury’s finding that President Donald Trump must pay $83.3 million to E. Jean Carroll for his repeated social media attacks against the longtime advice columnist after she accused him of sexual assault.

Trump had argued that he should not have to pay the sum as a result of a Supreme Court decision expanding presidential immunity. His lawyers had asked for a new trial.

2. New York AG to intervene in Texas lawsuit over abortion pill access

New York Attorney General Letitia James said she will intervene in a lawsuit brought by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton over a doctor prescribing abortion pills to a Texas woman.

The legal saga started in December 2024 when Paxton sued a New York doctor in a Texas court for providing telehealth services to a Texas woman, accusing Dr. Margaret Daley Carpenter of prescribing abortion pills.

3. Officer injured, suspect dead after knife attack inside Brooklyn precinct, NYPD says

An NYPD officer is recovering and a man is dead after a confrontation inside a Brooklyn precinct early Sunday, police officials said.

4. Run the garden: NYBG hosts its first fun run

The New York Botanical Garden is presenting its first 5K Fun Run on Sept. 21. The 3.1-mile route passes through the garden’s natural areas and past landmark buildings.

The run is the garden’s kickoff to NYC Climate Week. NY1’s Roger Clark has a preview.

5. Broadway stars among new ‘Made in NY’ honorees

Since 2006, the city has celebrated film and television leaders with the “Made in NY” awards. Now, Broadway and live performance are being honored for the first time.

Commissioner Pat Kaufman, from the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, joined “Mornings On 1” today to announce the inaugural class.

6. Doctor talks latest COVID vaccine recommendations

Shifting COVID-19 recommendations from Washington, D.C. have prompted state leaders to take action making it easier to access the vaccine.

Dr. Susannah Hills, pediatric ENT surgeon and assistant professor at Columbia University Medical Center, joined NY1 anchor Shannan Ferry on “News All Day” to discuss who is currently able to get a COVID-19 vaccine in New York.
