President Donald Trump is now polling worse on jobs and employment than former President Joe Biden at the end of his term, according to CNN data analyst Harry Enten.
In a video on X, Enten presented data from Reuters/Ipsos from December 2024 to August 2025. As of August, Trump’s net approval on jobs and the economy is ‐13, a 22-point slide from January, according to the data. In comparison, Biden’s net approval on this issue was -8 in December 2024.
“Joe Biden, of course, was in the basement and yet Donald Trump is even lower down than him,” Enten said. “You can barely get an elevator that goes down that low.”
In his video, Enten also provides data showing more people in the U.S. think that the country is on the wrong track when it comes to jobs and employment.
In August, 48% said America is on the wrong track, up from 32% in January. Just 33% of respondents said that the country is on the right track, down from 40% in January.
“Voters say the economy overall is weak, weak, weak,” Enten wrote on X. “56% say it’s getting worse (was 42% in Nov).”
Enten’s video was posted the same day the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that only 22,000 jobs were added to the U.S. economy in August. The report indicates that the labor market is stalling, according to the New York Times.
