Police in Fort Worth were searching for the shooter after a man was fatally shot Monday, according to authorities.
Officers were called to the 6500 block of Tomstock Drive for a report of a shooting and found a man on a staircase suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, police said in a written statement.
The victim, whose identity was not immediately disclosed, was pronounced dead at the scene after paramedics were unable to revive him.
A preliminary investigation determined that the victim and a witness had been involved in a verbal and physical fight when an unknown suspect shot the victim, police said.

The suspect, who was not identified, fled from the location, officials said.
Police did not say if they know what the victim had argued about before the gunfire.
