PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Twenty people are looking for a new place to stay after a fire tore through a west Phoenix apartment complex on Monday night.
The fire broke out around 8 p.m. at a complex near 70th Avenue and Indian School Road.

Firefighters said when they got to the scene, they were met with heavy smoke and fire from the first and second floors of an apartment.
Everyone made it out safely. No firefighters were hurt.
Fire crews said one apartment had fire damage while multiple apartments had smoke damage.
The Red Cross and the fire department’s community assistance team is helping the 20 people affected.
It’s unclear what sparked the flames.
