As a 6-foot-7 shot maker who authored a breakout summer with efficient scoring, an adeptness of feel for the game, and a multi-layered presence on both ends of the floor, Class of 2027 recruit RJ Moore is becoming one of the most hotly pursued prospects in his class.
Now at Ambassador Christian in North Carolina, Moore has established himself as a smooth guard/wing capable of engineering game breaking scoring surges.
Since a recent growth spurt and several convincing performances with Garner Road on the AAU circuit, Moore has been hearing from an array of high profile programs.
“Michigan, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Georgia, Utah, South Carolina, and Georgetown,” said Moore when asked which programs have been most consistent as of late.
Moore is coming off a visit to University of Tennessee, one of several programs which has ramped up its recruitment of Moore since the summer.
“The Tennessee visit was great as I got to tour the facilities and also see the football game (the No.15 Vols walloped East Tennessee State 72-17). The coaching staff likes my ability to score and shoot the ball. The shooting aspect is good for the sets they run and the system they have.”
Moore cited the tradition-rich culture of the program, the winning pedigree and the relationship he has established with the coaching staff as appealing factors.
“Tennessee has a great history in winning and the way Rick Barnes just helps out guys individually are impressive,” Moore explained.
“The coaching staff, I’ve been texting (assistant) Coach (Steve) McClain since the first live period. We’ve developed a great relationship. Also Rick Barnes is a legend– I’ve watched him for years and he’s a great coach.”
Boasting a wide ranging skill set, Moore is able to orchestrate offense as a primary ball handler, operate in the post, and pilot the perimeter game as a major catch-and-stick presence. He had several games of six 3-pointers or more this past summer.
Rutgers, Georgia Tech, Utah, Clemson, and several others have been in contact with Moore.
He will inherit a prominent leadership role for an Ambassador Christian program which has added talent and depth for a much anticipated 2025-2026 campaign.
