A junior at the University of Vermont has a special connection to the record-breaking number one movie at the box office right now.”The Conjuring: Last Rites” took in nearly $200 million in worldwide ticket sales in its debut weekend. That is the biggest opening ever for a horror movie, according to the entertainment publication Variety. The movie is the latest chapter in the popular franchise about paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga co-star in the film.In late July, Wilson was on vacation with his family in Vermont and visited the Majestic 10 in Williston to see the new “Superman” movie with his son, according to movie theater staff. Ticket-seller Leah Novak, who is studying education at UVM, recognized her movie star customer.”He shook my hand, and he asked my name,” Novak recalled in an interview Monday with NBC5 News. “He was like, ‘I love seeing fans. Instead, the actor took her over to the coming soon poster for “The Conjuring: Last Rites” which was hanging in the theater’s lobby. Wilson asked his son to take a photo with Leah her phone using the poster as a backdrop, Novak said.The theater employee said she is a big fan of all the “Conjuring” movies and their spin-offs, the “Annabelle” and “The Nun” movies. She said meeting the star was a true highlight of her summer.”He was so gracious and kind the entire time,” Novak said. “It happened roughly a month and a half ago, it’s still fresh in my brain.
