SAN ANTONIO – Fans of San Antonio Tejano singer Ramiro ‘Ram’ Herrera are sending him well wishes after he announced his battle with prostate cancer.

He’s now in stage 4 of the disease.

Tributes are pouring in from across Texas for the 65-year-old; offering prayers as he gears up for this fight.

His wife Liz, saying they’re ready to take cancer on by the horns.

“I want to talk to you a little bit about something very personal to me,” the singer said in a video posted to Facebook. “I’ve been diagnosed with stage four cancer of the prostate.”

He posted the video to his fan page just after midnight Tuesday, telling them — a fight is coming.

“There’s so many things I want to do still.. musically and just in life itself, personally,” he said. “I just got married, and I want to enjoy the marriage.”

Herrera tied the knot with his wife Liz this summer. In a brief phone conversation — she said her husband is preparing for surgery Wednesday.

“My treatment is going to be very simple,” the singer explained. “Thank God, I’m not gonna have no chemo. I was worried about that, because I know chemo can really mess you up.”

Prayers have poured in on social media from loving fans. Herrera urged them to pay close attention to their health.

“I’m gonna have to change my diet and everything else, and I’m gonna have to change my whole way of living, basically,” Herrera said. “Like I say.. I urge y’all to go get screened before it’s too late.”

According to the American Cancer Society, 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. Those chances are higher in men 65 and older.

“From the bottom of my heart. It means a lot to me, and I want to keep on singing – so still be around. I got a lot of life left.”

Herrera did not share how long he’s known about the diagnosis, adding his cancer is treatable. He said he’s leaning on his doctors and his support system to get him through.
