OGDEN, Utah (KUTV) — A contractor struck the top of a sewer main while installing a storm drain manhole, forcing an emergency road closure.

The contractor was working on an apartment project on 2nd Street.

“Residents and motorists who use the eastbound route on 2nd from Washington should plan alternate routes,” Ogden City Government said.

Those on 2nd Street from Monroe traveling westbound can use the road, “but be advised it is local traffic only with a hard closure at Washington at the repair site. Motorists cannot pass through that specific area.”

2nd Street will remain closed from Washington Blvd to Monroe until the storm drain is installed and the site is backfilled.

Crews expect to complete this work on Wednesday.
