Phoenix is about to get a little darker this fall as Black Lagoon, a Halloween-themed cocktail pop-up, takes over Sunny’s Lounge from Sept. 26 through Nov. 3.

Located at 2701 E. Indian School Road, Sunny’s Lounge will host the immersive pop-up created by industry veterans Erin Hayes and Kelsey Ramage. Now in its fifth year, Black Lagoon has grown from a one-night concept in New Orleans into a 38-city tour, making it a seasonal sensation across North America. This year, Phoenix is back on the map.

Sunny’s will be transformed into a haunted hideaway, complete with gothic décor, eerie details and a cocktail menu designed with a dark twist. Standouts include Griselda’s Revenge, a gin and mango mix with tarragon; Nocturna Colada, a dark twist on the tropical classic; and Corpse Flower, which blends tequila, ube and sherry. For those skipping alcohol, the zero-proof Death’s Door is served with Giffard Pineapple, miso falernum, lime and soda.

“We wanted this year’s cocktails to push the boundaries of spooky creativity while also being approachable, fun and above all, delicious,” co-founder Erin Hayes said. “It’s important to us that every drink feels like an experience, whether you’re sipping tequila, rum or even a zero-proof cocktail.”

This year’s Black Lagoon menu is built around spirits from brands including Lalo Tequila, Fords Gin, Kraken Rum, Mr Black Cold Brew Liqueur, Giffard Liqueurs, Lustau Sherry and Vermouth, and Bitter Queens.

“Partnering with some of the most exciting spirit brands out there makes the magic possible,” co-founder Kelsey Ramage said. “Each sponsor brings a unique character that fits right into the Black Lagoon universe and flavors we bring to life each year.”

With its sinister sips and over-the-top atmosphere, Black Lagoon at Sunny’s gives Valley residents a spirited way to toast the spooky season.
