This is a crime wrap-up for Sept. 3 to 7.

Assault family/house member

On Sept. 3, a female student reported being assaulted by her boyfriend, UTA Police Capt. Mike McCord said in an email.

Assault on a family or house member is a third-degree felony punishable by jail time between two and 10 years. Perpetrators may also receive a fine not exceeding $10,000.

Tamper with governmental record with intent to make genuine

On Sept. 4, officers investigated the tampering of a government document, McCord said.

Tampering with governmental record with intent to make genuine is a class A misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $4,000, up to a year in jail or both.

Credit card or debit card abuse

On Sept. 4, a female staff member reported an unauthorized transaction on her university procurement card, McCord said.

Credit or debit card abuse is a state jail felony punishable by imprisonment of 180 days to two years in jail, a fine not exceeding $10,000 or both.

Sexual assault and unlawful restraint

On Sept. 6, a female faculty member reported an alleged sexual assault involving a male faculty member, McCord said.

Sexual assault and unlawful restraint is a second-degree felony punishable by imprisonment in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice between two and 20 years. Perpetrators may also receive a fine not exceeding $10,000.

Theft of property

On Sept. 7, a male student reported the theft of his laptop while it was left unattended, McCord said.

Theft of property valued between $750 and $2,500 is a class A misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $4,000, up to one year in jail or both.
