While many people have enjoyed recent concerts like Shakira, The Weeknd, and Post Malone at the Alamodome, residents who live near the venue say they’ve been a nuisance thanks to VIA.

Residents living on Montana St. say VIA buses are making it nearly impossible for them to leave their homes during events at the Alamodome.

“They park them lining up leading into the Alamodome,” Jary Ruiz said. “They just leave them there until it’s time to pick up the Rideshare and the Park and Ride people.”

Jary Ruiz’s family have lived on Montana St. for four generations. He says the first time he noticed VIA buses crowding his street was at the Shakira concert in July.

“They were staying there until about 12 or 1 in the morning,” Ruiz said. “It’s a little frustrating because we can’t get out and do anything at this time.”

The loud buses aren’t just annoying, Ruiz says they are disrupting the community.

“At nighttime the buses idling along the street will keep you awake because you can hear it right through the houses,” Ruiz said.

Ruiz says he feels like a prisoner inside of his own home.

“If there is an emergency there is no way we can get someone out to the hospital,” Ruiz said.

We reached out to VIA to try to find a solution. They told us they will have a response tomorrow.
