A new podcast spotlighting local innovation is coming to Cowtown.

The Fort Worth-Tarrant County Innovation Partnership’s new podcast highlights the growing innovation and research sector in the county.

The Fort Worth Innovates podcast features Mayor Mattie Parker on its inaugural episode Sept. 16. She discusses the Taylor Sheridan project in Alliance and the biorepository at the Texas A&M-Fort Worth campus with podcast host and local entrepreneur Cameron Cushman.

Cushman is no stranger to podcasts focusing on Fort Worth’s entrepreneurial projects. He had a similar podcast with UNT Health Fort Worth in 2019. Despite that podcast shuttering earlier this year after a 150-episode run, Cushman knew there was still room to continue platforming entrepreneurial endeavors in the county.

“There’s way more cool stuff going on in Fort Worth than anybody realizes,” Cushman said. “There’s way more innovation, way more research, way more startups that are trying cool things. Fort Worth is no longer a small town.”

The Fort Worth-Tarrant County Innovation Partnership, which is backed by the city, county and Texas A&M-Fort Worth, plans to use the realization of the downtown Aggie campus to encourage innovation investment in new technologies.

On top of creating innovation hubs covering a wide array of business sectors, the partnership aims to promote the new wave of local entrepreneurial efforts through the podcast.

“Each episode will feature some aspect of the work that is going on and help explain how this innovation hub in downtown Fort Worth is a game-changer for our whole region,” said Darryl Heath, executive director of the partnership.

Cushman said that although many people know Texas A&M is coming to the area, there isn’t much information about what that means for Tarrant County.

The podcast will help fill that gap and inform people about local projects and initiatives, he said.
