Celebrating growth, achievement, and what’s ahead

Greetings, District 2!

I hope your school year is off to a strong start! It’s been a busy time at Dallas ISD, and you can catch up on the latest below.

Dallas ISD District 2 Monthly Update:

  1. Dallas ISD’s school academic rating soared, earning the district an 83 (B) in a more rigorous accountability system than in previous years.
  2. 70% of Dallas ISD schools are now rated A or B.
  3. Students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in Dallas ISD exceed the state.
  4. Students classified as emergent bilingual in Dallas ISD exceed the state.
  5. Black students in Dallas ISD meet or exceed the state.
  6. 18 of the top 100 schools in Texas are in Dallas ISD, including the top 3 schools in the state according to U.S. News & World Report.
  7. Reduced the number of F-rated campuses from 24 to 2.

  • These results didn’t happen by accident; they happened by design. Some of the elements that are making this achievement possible include:

  1. Teacher salaries average nearly $7,000 more than those in surrounding districts.
  2. Retention of Dallas ISD teachers is 2.3% above the state average.
  3. Dallas ISD had more than 99.4% of positions filled on the first day of school, the highest in a decade.
  4. The student-to-counselor ratio has been reduced to 270:1.
  5. More mental health clinicians have been added, ensuring every high school has a full-time clinician.
  6. Dallas ISD earned a AAA bond rating from the Kroll Rating Agency thanks to effective financial stewardship.
  7. Dallas ISD Police Department earned state accreditation, placing the department at the top in the state and strengthening safety efforts.

Dallas ISD Bond Construction Update: Across the district, campus upgrades funded by the proceeds from the 2020 Bond continue, with more information found on the Bond website.

  • Bond pop-up meetings: Dallas ISD is exploring a potential next school bond, and there are still opportunities to attend. Community members are encouraged to attend any of the meetings to learn more and share feedback.

As always, please reach out to me if you have thoughts, ideas, questions, concerns, or simply want to say hello!

 Best,

Sarah Weinberg
