today’s a breezy one, especially along the beaches

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A local, mostly dry Nor’easter is settling in along our coastline on Saturday, bringing windy and hazardous conditions to our waterways.

Northeast winds will be gusty up to 40 mph along coastal Duval, Nassau, St. Johns, and Flagler counties today; therefore, a Wind Advisory is in effect Saturday until 8 p.m. Gusty winds can move lawn furniture and cause high-profile vehicles to sway on area bridges.

A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect through 8 p.m. Sunday. Minor coastal flooding during high tide is possible in parking lots, parks, and roads.

Additionally, there’s a High Surf Advisory in effect until 2 a.m. Sunday due to large breaking waves up to 5-7 feet. The rip current risk is high throughout the weekend, as well. Residents and visitors are encouraged to stay out of the water on Saturday. These advisories are for Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida beaches.

A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect until 11 p.m. Sunday. All Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida coastal waters out to 60 NM are under the advisory. Seas are 5-8 feet with northeast winds 20-25 knots, gusts to 35 knots. Small vessels should avoid navigating in these hazardous conditions.

Isolated showers are expected today in our southern counties of Northeast Florida, mostly concentrated along the coast.
