1. San Antonio City Council member censured over DWI arrest
San Antonio City Council Member Ivalis Meza Gonzalez has been censured in the aftermath of her DWI arrest this summer.
Meza Gonzalez, 43, was arrested on a drunk driving suspicion in July. Her criminal case file revealed that her blood alcohol level at the time was at least 0.15, nearly double the legal limit of 0.08. She was apparently driving home from the Centre Club, a downtown club frequented by the city’s politicians and business elite.
2. Arlington’s Unity Council moves forward despite suspension of anti-discrimination ordinance
The Arlington City Council voted to temporarily suspend DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) language from its municipal code.
For groups like Arlington’s Unity Council, its guidelines will have to be revised to meet federal grant contracts.
3. Texas’ Manning and UTEP’s Nelson took different paths from top recruits to their matchup Saturday
Arch Manning and Malachi Nelson were two of the most coveted quarterback recruits in the country coming out of high school in 2023.
Both were can’t miss five-star prospects who were going to be leading two of the biggest programs and brands in college football to national title contention.

Texas A&M professor offers new, affordable treatment for herniated discs in dogs
Keeping pets healthier for longer was the goal for Dr. Nick Jeffery at Texas A&M University’s Small Animal Teaching Center. A large portion of that mission stems from the high cost of treating animals for different conditions.
From Jeffery’s observations, conditions like herniated discs can lead to families unnecessarily making difficult decisions.
