The Dallas Cowboys are signing Jadeveon Clowney to bolster their pass rush, owner/general manager Jerry Jones told reporters Sunday.

Jones revealed the development after the Cowboys’ 40-37 overtime win over the New York Giants.

“Well, while we were here today, we just signed a pass rusher. We’ll have an announcement on that,” Jones said. “We signed him during the game.”

Jones’ response when asked if the pass rusher was Clowney? “Yeah.”

The Cowboys finished Sunday’s game with two sacks on quarterback Russell Wilson, who threw for 450 yards, three touchdowns and an interception.

Clowney, 32, visited The Star on Wednesday.

Clowney, the No. 1 pick in the 2014 draft, had 5 1/2 sacks last season for the Panthers. The Cowboys would be his seventh team in the NFL. His previous career stops include Houston, Seattle, Tennessee, Cleveland and Baltimore.

Clowney has compiled 409 tackles, 139 quarterback hits, 108 tackles for loss and 58 sacks throughout his professional career.

The veteran could help a Cowboys group that recently lost defensive playmakers in Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence.
