The incidents mark the 28th and 29th deadly crashes involving motorcycles in Duval County in 2025.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two motorcyclists are dead in separate crashes around Jacksonville Sunday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, including one crash that shut down Atlantic Boulevard for hours late Sunday.

According to JSO investigators, the first crash happened around 9:06 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Atlantic Boulevard and San Mateo Avenue.

Police said a man was riding his motorcycle eastbound on Atlantic Boulevard when a teen driving a car turned left onto San Mateo Avenue, into the path of the bike.

The motorcycle hit the passenger’s side of the car. Jacksonville Fire Rescue paramedics responded to the scene, but the rider was pronounced dead when they arrived.

Investigators said the teen driver of the car is cooperating with their investigation. Atlantic Boulevard was shut down for hours Sunday night as JSO investigated the scene.

Just over an hour later, at 10:08 p.m., police said another motorcyclist was riding southbound in the 1000 block of Girvin Road when he lost control in a curve, sending him into a center median curb, throwing him from the bike.

JFRD crews responded to the scene, but the rider was pronounced dead.

The two incidents are the 28th and 29th deadly crashes involving motorcycles in Duval County so far in 2025.
