San Diego police SWAT officers were at the scene of an El Cerrito apartment building early Monday after a man went onto the building’s roof and refused to come down, authorities said.

Officers were called about an alleged domestic violence incident shortly before 6:30 a.m. at a building on 54th Street near Trojan Avenue.

When officers arrived the suspect was on the roof, refusing to come down, said police Officer Sarah Foster. Residents in the building were evacuated, and officers were trying to talk with the man.

Around 9:30 a.m., the man was reported to be in custody. “He finally complied,” Foster said. No injuries were reported.
