A man was arrested in the Grapevine in connection with the deadly stabbing of a woman who was found in a burning apartment in West LA, police announced on Monday.

William Santos, 33, was arrested more than 12 hours after an injured woman was found during a firefighters’ response to a blaze at an apartment on Friday. Crews responded to the 10300 block of Bellwood Avenue, where they found a woman with stab wounds and burns from the fire in an apartment unit. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died of her injuries.

With the help of the California Highway Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Santos was arrested in Lebec. Law enforcement did not specify why they suspected the man in connection with the death.

The suspect was booked on suspicion of murder and has bail set at $2 million. It’s unclear if he knew the victim or what relationship he may have had with her.

Police did not release the name of the victim.
