  • September 16, 2025

LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A road in La Vergne was temporarily closed on Monday night after a fire at Tobacco Brew & Chew, according to a spokesperson for the city of La Vergne.

Fire crews were called to the business on Murfreesboro Road just after 9 p.m. and arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the front of the store.

Within about 10 minutes of arriving, crews had the fire under control.

One person evacuated the store, and several evacuated at the Little Caesars nearby.

“We had to make entry into the Boost Mobile store in the middle unit of the structure, and no one was inside,” said on-scene command Battalion Chief Cody Wilson. “There is heavy smoke damage to the tobacco store, but the full extent of the damage won’t be known until investigations are complete.”

Sixteen La Vergne crew members responded to the fire with several command staff members. Four suppression units, one truck, and mutual aid from the Town of Smyrna Fire Department and Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services all responded as well.

A Rutherford County Fire Department investigator will be assisting La Vergne Fire with the investigation into the cause.
