HOUSTON – A man was killed in a fiery crash Monday night in southwest Houston.
It happened just after 8 p.m. along the northbound lanes of South Post Oak as the Houston Police Department said the car was preparing to take the North 610 Loop.

According to the HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division, the driver in a Dodge Charger was going northbound at a high speed before losing control and hitting a concrete barrier.

Investigators said the car slid along the barricade for a little while before its wheel and suspension broke off and continued skidding down the roadway before coming to a stop.

The car then caught fire, killing the driver who was still inside. Houston Fire Department crews responded, but it was too late, and the man died at the scene.
Police said the investigation into what additional factors led up to the crash remains ongoing.
