UPDATE (9/16/2025) — The Phoenix District of Tulsa has announced that it has jumped to 29th place and will move onto the final round of voting consisting of the top 50 distircts.

The Levitt Foundation will make the final decision on who will receive up to $120,000 over three years to host a series of free outdoors concerts across the city.

The Phoenix District partnered with Greenwood District, Kendall Whittier Main Street, the Tulsa Global District and Tulsa Route 66 Main Street for the grant.

TULSA, Okla. — Five Tulsa Districts reached the public voting round of the national Levitt Music Series grant, which provides funds to help cities host free outdoor concerts.

The five districts that reached the public voting round are the historic Greenwood District, the Phoenix District, Kendall Whittier Main Street, the Tulsa Global District and Tulsa Route 66 Main Street.

“Music is such a core part of Tulsa’s DNA, and that means all of Tulsa,” said Meg Gould, the Executive Director of the Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts and Culture. “I have seen first-hand the impact the Levitt Foundation Grant can make and know that being awarded these funds would take Tulsa’s music scene to the next level and make it truly citywide. I encourage everyone to vote and help Historic Greenwood District, Phoenix District, Kendall Whittier Main Street, Tulsa Global District and Tulsa Route 66 Main Street win this much-deserved honor.”

If Tulsa were to win the grant, the city could receive as much as $120,000 over three years to host around seven to ten concerts each year starting in 2026.

According to the City of Tulsa, “each district would host concerts in public spaces that reflect its unique character, from Greenwood’s historic music legacy, to Kendall Whittier’s arts community, to the multicultural heart of the Tulsa Global District.”

In the 2024 Tulsa Music Census, residents said they would love to have more free or low cost concerts, more live music in neighborhoods and more chances for local artists to perform.

If Tulsa were to win the grant, the City would have the ability to provide those services for residents.

The recipients of the Levitt Music Series grant will be announced on November 18.

Support from the public will play a vital role in Tulsa’s chances of being selected.
