Slippery Rock football stayed put at No. 4 in the latest NCAA Division II rankings by the American Football Coaches Association.

The poll was released Monday. Defending national champ Ferris State remains No. 1, with Harding still at No. 2. After Grand Valley State’s upset loss, they dropped out of the top five and West Florida leaped SRU into third.

The Rock’s Teddy Gregory Jr was named the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday after he recorded a career-high 15 tackles in Saturday’s 35-28 win over Shepherd. His tackle on a fourth-and-1 stop with two minutes left in the fourth quarter gave SRU the ball back, and The Rock drove downt he field to force overtime.

Elsewhere, Slippery Rock men’s soccer freshman Cornelis Dedecker was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week after he scored his first goal in SRU’s first victory against Walsh University. Dedecker added two assists in a loss to the University of the District of Columbia.

BC3 volleyball improves to 10-0

Butler County Community College women’s volleyball made it a perfect 10.

The No. 7 Pioneers swept Penn State-Fayette 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-15) on Monday to improve to 10-0 this season.
