FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas basketball coach John Calipari has extended an offer to 2027 5-star point guard Beckham Black, the younger brother of former Razorback standout Anthony Black, and one his teammates.

Beckham Black, 6-3 and 170 pounds, of Orlando (Fla.) Southeastern Prep Academy, has added offers from Kentucky, Texas, Texas A&M, Auburn, Virginia since this summer. He also has offers from Texas Tech, Cincinnati, Georgetown, Southern Cal, SMU and others. 

He helped the USA U16 National Team win gold at the 2025 FIBA U16 Men’s AmeriCup in Juarez, Mexico. Black started all six games and averaged 6.7 points, 6.5 assists and 3.3 steals. He and teammate Nasir Anderson broke the the previous U.S. record for total assists in the competition with 39. 

He played his sophomore season at Duncanville, Texas and was coached by stepfather, David Peavy, who is now the coach at Southeastern Prep. 

ESPN rates him the No. 1 point guard and No. 9 overall recruit in the nation for the 2027 class. His brother is currently with the Orlando Magic after being the No. 6 pick of the 2023 NBA Draft. 

Calipari, who reportedly visited the school today, also extended an offer to center Obinna Ekezie Jr.

Ekezie, 6-11 and 220 pounds, has also seen his offer list grow recently with others from Oregon, Florida State, Central Florida and Creighton. 

He also has offers from Alabama, Baylor, BYU, Georgetown, Kentucky, Maryland, Miami, Ohio State, Souther Cal Texas A&M and others. 

Ekezie played his sophomore season at Napa (Calif.) Prolific Prep. His father played at the Maryland and was 37th overall selection in the 1999 NBA Draft. 

ESPN rates him the No. 1 center and the nation’s No. 5 overall prospect.
