1. TEA receives 180 complaints against teachers for social media posts on Charlie Kirk’s death

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) says it is investigating roughly 180 complaints about social media posts from public school teachers and staff making inappropriate comments on the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

2. Some Texas cities are getting new hospitals while rural areas try to keep the doors open

Texas hospitals have been on the minds of federal, state and local leaders this summer.

Just last week, Gov. Greg Abbott signed two bills into law to improve health care in rural communities. And two weeks before that, Abbott held a rural health care roundtable with U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in Austin.

3. Texas cattle industry sees herds decrease due to drought, inflation

Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers is WNBA Rookie of the Year

Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers was a runaway choice for WNBA Rookie of the Year after one of the best debut seasons in league history.

Bueckers received 70 of the 72 votes from sportswriters and broadcasters in balloting announced by the league on Tuesday. The other two went to Washington Mystics guard Sonia Citron.
