STRONGSVILLE, Ohio — Barnes & Noble is coming to Strongsville. The national bookseller will open a new store at The Plaza at SouthPark, 16700 Royalton Road, in January, the city announced on its Facebook page.
The 26,000-square-foot space was previously home to Bed Bath & Beyond, which closed in early 2023.
The new Barnes & Noble will be the company’s sixth location in Northeast Ohio, joining stores in Westlake, Woodmere, Mentor, Akron and North Canton. The retailer is best known for its wide selection of books, magazines and writing supplies, but most stores also carry music, DVDs, toys, games and collectibles. Shoppers can usually count on comfortable seating areas, too.
The Strongsville store will also include a café, according to the company’s website. If it’s anything like other Barnes & Noble locations in the area, customers can expect Starbucks-branded products to be on the menu.
When it opens, the store will help fill the gap left by the closing of Borders in 2011, just a few hundred feet west on Royalton Road. Across the street, Books-A-Million continues to operate a bookstore inside SouthPark Mall, though in a smaller footprint than the former Borders or a typical Barnes & Noble.
