SAN ANTONIO – A suspect is at large, and a victim is in critical condition after a shooting just west of downtown.

Around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, police responded to the scene of a shooting near the corner of El Paso Street and South Chupaderas Street.

When police arrived, they found the victim with gunshot wounds to the arm and abdomen, with a good Samaritan applying pressure to the wounds.

According to witnesses, the victim had been about a block away from where he was found, with witnesses describing a group of people in a dispute.

Police say that during the argument, witnesses said between five and six gunshots were fired. The victim attempted to flee, but collapsed just a block away.

The victim, who has yet to be identified, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
