A mass of moisture from former Tropical Storm Mario moved into San Diego County late Wednesday afternoon, producing thunder, lightning and rain that’s expected to last well into Thursday and maybe Friday, the National Weather Service said.
A flood watch will be in effect from 5 a.m. Thursday to early Friday in the eastern parts of the county.
“This will be a hit-and-miss kind of thing with small amounts of rain in some areas and a lot in others,” said Chandler Price, a weather service forecaster. “The heaviest rain could be where we get thunderstorms.”
Through 4 p.m. Wednesday, lightning had been reported in Mission Valley, Allied Gardens, San Diego Bay, La Mesa, El Cajon, and Palomar Mountain.
