Jason Kelce has always seen playing in a demanding city as a positive.

Some of you older Philadelphia Eagles fans can attest to this. We’re speaking to those who are 30 to 40 and older. There’s only one franchise legend of recent memory that this fan base loves as much as Jason Kelce. That’s Brian Dawkins.

It’s a different type of love, though. Weapon X was our superhero. Kelce is the guy we wish we could chug a beer with. Both are two of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of cleats as members of this proud organization.

Dawkins’ Number 20 jersey is retired. We imagine Kelce’s No. 62 will be as well. At least we don’t have to worry about missing the latter. Is it just us, or do we see him more since he’s retired than we did when he was playing?

Whether it be his New Heights podcast, his work with ESPN, or his frequent appearances around the City of Brotherly Love, Kelce is woven into this town’s fabric like cheesesteak and Tastykakes. The love he’s showered with is never-ending, and he is always willing to give love in return.

Jason Kelce praises the Philadelphia media for its demanding nature.

Terms like ‘Negadelphia’ didn’t come from nowhere. The Eagles are 2-0, and depending on who you speak with, you’d think they dropped two to begin the season. Good isn’t good enough. Playing in this city requires tougher and thicker skin.

Kelce has always welcomed that. During a recent visit to 94 WIP-FM, he did it again. Here’s a take you won’t often hear about the Philadelphia media.

We respectfully disagree. Sometimes, this media landscape takes things too far. Sometimes, love turns into lunacy. We did mention this team is 2-0 after two games, didn’t we?

All jokes aside, tell Mr. Kelce we appreciate the sentiment when you see him. Eagles Nation is a family. The passion is a birthright, and that’s true whether you’re a Birds fan in the Delaware Valley or anywhere else on Planet Earth.
