New York City is seeing a boost in COVID-19-related illnesses and even one death in the last week, according to the NYC Department of Health.
On Thursday, there was a major development in the Tri-State meant to calm many people’s fears when it comes to vaccines and viruses.
Several states, including New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, are coming together to form the ‘Northeast Public Health Collaborative.’
The voluntary group says it will promote and protect evidence-based public health.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul is providing guidance when it comes to who should get the shot.
The state’s latest recommendation is that children 6 months to 18 years old, adults and individuals at high risk, including those who are pregnant, lactating or immunocompromised.
Dr. Eric Ascher is a family medicine physician at Lenox Hill and says right now he’s seeing an uptick in COVID positives in his office.
He says now is the time to get vaccinated as we head into the colder months, when we typically see a surge in the virus.
According to The New York City Department of Health over the past week, it’s seen an average of 398 cases of COVID in the 5 boroughs each day, 7 hospitalizations and one death.
