Hoboken is moving forward with a 117-unit redevelopment project on Adams Street that will include dozens of affordable housing units along with pickleball courts, restaurants and bike storage areas.

The mixed-use project in the North End is the result of a settlement agreement that was reached Wednesday between the city and site owner, Advance at Hoboken LLC, the city said in a statement on Thursday.

The settlement resolved previous legal disputes over affordable housing at the Harlow at 1330 Willow Ave. in Hoboken’s North End Rehabilitation Area, which was formally adopted by the city council in 2021.

The project at 1417 Adams St. will consist of a nine-story, mixed-use building.

Plans call for 26 affordable housing units, including 14 units originally required at the Harlow development and 12 affordable units in accordance with Hoboken’s 10% inclusionary zoning law.

There will also be five workforce housing units reserved for Hoboken residents earning up to 120% of the area’s median income.

About 10,000 square feet of commercial space will be used for a privately operated pickleball facility featuring indoor courts and related amenities on the rooftop.

Another nearly 4,000 square feet of commercial or restaurant space will be located on the first and mezzanine floors at the corner of 15th and Adams Streets.

There will be bicycle storage for 117 bikes, a green roof, and underground stormwater detention to manage rainfall.
