Fort Worth’s Community Action Partners, a city program that provides services to lower-income families and older adults, has a full slate of offerings heading into the fall.
Documenters empowers people like you to help fill the gaps in reporting on Tarrant County public meetings. Find out how you can join here.
- “Savings Frenzy”: In collaboration with the Pathfinders nonprofit, Community Action Partners is offering financial coaching workshops each Monday in September called “Savings Frenzy.” The workshops are at the Chisholm Trail Community Center, 4936 McPherson Blvd. These workshops delve into all aspects of personal finance to help set you on the right course to making sound financial choices. The series finale is 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sept. 29. Registration is free. Email suzanne.richards@fortworthtexas.gov for more information.
- Buying a home: If you qualify for CAP services and want to buy a home, join EnVision Center of Fort Worth, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, 5565 Truman Drive. Community land trusts are shared equity programs that keep land available for low- and moderate-income families. Residents can purchase their homes, but not the land on which the house sits.
- Tuition assistance: Under the EnCAP Case Management program, clients can apply for help with tuition, interview clothes, books and even laptops. A wide variety of trades that might be of interest include automotive repair, forklift driver, security installation and office careers.
