SAN ANTONIO — The winner and new world record setter has been named in the first ever World Taco Eating Championship hosted by Taco Cabana.
Geoff Esper took the trophy home along with $5,000 for eating 51 bean and cheese tacos in 8 minutes. An official with the Guinness Book of World Records was in attendance to crown the new record holder.

Contestants who signed up competed alongside professional eaters for 10 whole minutes. Taco Cabana says they are proud to host this event for the first time ever.

James Webb came in second place with 48.5 tacos and Gideon Oji came in third with 32. The event took place at the Taco Cabana Austin Highway location.
