SAN ANTONIO — Two young children were pronounced dead on Saturday after being found inside a vehicle by their mother, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
BCSO Sheriff Javier Salazar says a 3-year-old girl and 6-year-old boy, who are siblings, were found inside the car by their mother around 3 p.m.
Deputies were called to a home on Chancery Gate and Appleton Way in Far West Bexar County for reports of a hot car related death involving children.
A deputy attempted to perform life-saving measures, including CPR, on both children simultaneously until EMS arrived. The mother told deputies she last saw her children alive at 10 a.m. inside the home when she was going to sleep and had not seen them again until she found them in the car.
Sheriff Salazar said there were several inconsistencies about what unfolded adding, “something is not adding up about this case.” He says the mother was taken into custody for questioning and is considered a “person of interest.”
The Bexar County Medical Examiner and Child Protective Services (CPS) have been called to the scene.
