SAN ANTONIO — Multiple people and animals are safe after a fire broke out at a North Side home on Saturday.
Firefighters responded to the fire around 3:30 p.m. at a home on Coronet Lane near McCullough Avenue.
Fire officials on scene said when they first arrived, smoke was coming out of the garage and could be seen from highway 410. The response was upgraded due to the hot weather and crews quickly extinguished the fire.
The residents inside and a few cats were able to make it out safely. The cause and origin of the fire is still under investigation but officials say it appears to have started in the garage, where most of the damage was.
Firefighters estimated the rest of the home sustained between $60-$70,000 in smoke and water damages. We’re told the homeowners will be staying with family.
