Re “San Diego approves $25 minimum wage for most tourism workers” (Sept. 16): It appears that George Orwell was correct in writing that “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

For those not lucky enough to be deemed worthy of inclusion in the “most tourism workers” category, as in not employed by the large, evil, exploitative corporations, maybe you can get a job in a restaurant for $20 an hour.

But of course, not all restaurant workers are deemed worthy of that regardless of how hard you work, your responsibilities, professionalism or dedication. Just those that work for the large, evil, exploitative fast food corporations.

If none of that makes sense, it is because you are just not enlightened enough to understand it. You must trust in the wisdom of our sages in Sacramento, and the visionary yet prudent leaders of the City Council. They know best. Do not question this.

Re “San Diego approves parking fees for Balboa Park” (Sept. 15): I have heard the City Council loud and clear. I will no longer stay at hotels or go any place with hospitality wages. I will no longer go downtown. I will no longer go to Balboa Park. Soon, I will no longer go to the beach.

Time for the city to stop gouging us and start being more responsible with taxpayer money. I refuse to give it any more of my hard-earned money!
