Here are 5 keys to beating the Eagles on Sunday and ensuring the Rams head back to LA 3-0
Today is the day. The Los Angeles Rams take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Philadelphia in a rematch of last season’s NFL divisional round matchup, in which the Eagles took home the win 28-22 in a snowy tundra. The Rams need to be almost flawless to win this game.
Here are five keys to victory in order for the Rams to go back to Los Angeles, 3-0.
Contain Saquon Barkley
In two games against the Rams last season, Saquon Barkley rushed for over 450 yards. The Rams had nothing even to stop the run at all three levels. With improved linebacker and secondary play so far this season, they can hope to slow down the All-Pro running back.
Attack the secondary
With a young but good secondary, the Eagles’ position group has shown flashes of being lockdown, but has lacked consistency over the past year. If the Rams can manage to complete some short to medium passes, it may cause one of the Eagles’ young cornerbacks to become greedy and undisciplined.
Go up-tempo
You cannot allow this Eagles defense to get set and in a rhythm. It is a must that the Rams offense plays at an up-tempo pace today in order to keep the Eagles defense guessing and uncertain. This could also open up a shot downfield.
Get your superstars the ball early and often
When Pooka Nacua and Davante Adams have the ball in their hands, only good things seem to happen. The Rams must get the ball to their playmakers in order to have a productive offensive day. Philadelphia definitely has no slouch of a defense, but their outside corners have been exposed at times.
Bring the heat at Jalen Hurts
With Philadelphia having one of the most dominant offensive lines in the league, if the Rams plan to rush four guys all day, that could be a major problem. You need to blitz often against Philadelphia in order to make Jalen Hurts uncomfortable while forcing him to get the ball out early.
Next week, the Rams head back home to take on the 2-0 Indianapolis Colts in their first game back at SoFi Stadium since Week 1
