Sunday afternoon felt like Christmas for Chicago Bears fans. They watched their team finally put together a complete performance. Everything that has been asked from this team, the Bears finally showed and then some. Caleb Williams’ play has been one of the biggest talking points in sports media. He showed great progress Sunday with four passing touchdowns. Caleb could have had five in this game, but Rome Odunze dropped one in the end zone.

Caleb and Rome’s connection has been stellar to start the season. Caleb is tied with Aaron Rodgers for the most passing touchdowns in the NFL with 7 through 3 weeks. Rome Odunze leads the NFL with most receiving touchdowns with 4, already more than he had his entire rookie season. Coming into this season Caleb’s success was predicant on how good Rome could be this season, so far Rome has been one of the best receivers in the NFL.

Caleb WIlliams could have not had a better performance today and it was against the perfect opponent. It was evident in this game for the first time this season, why Ben Johnson was hired. Ben Johnson coached circles around Matt Eberflus and he had Caleb playing like the best we have seen him play yet to date. There was Bears playmakers streaking wide open all game and Caleb hit them in this game more than he missed.

A huge emphasis for the Bears this week was to get the rookies more involved. Why take a tight end with the tenth pick in the first round if you are not going to use him? Colston Loveland got involved this time around with one big catch for 31 yards before he left the game early with injury. Luther Burden was the rookie that got involved the most as he was on the receiving end of a trick play that turned into a 65 yard touchdown. Burden is an explosive playmaker and in this game we saw that come to fruition. Burden lead the Bears with 101 total yards receiving on the day.

The defense after getting humiliated last week, had a really nice bounce back performance. Javonte Williams gashed the Bears defense all game. Dak on the other hand could not match Caleb Williams’ performance. Ceedee Lamb getting banged up in this game did help but how bad this unit has been for the Bears of late, this was a very encouraging performance. There was finally a Montez Sweat sighting as he took down Dak for a sack late in the game. Another highly paid Bear that has been disappointing, Tremaine Edmunds showed up big time making 15 tackles and getting 2 interceptions.

This was not a perfect performance by any means, but the Bears saved their season getting a much needed win against a familiar opponent. The season officially starts now for the Bears as they now look to get another victory against the Raiders this upcoming week. The Raiders will be coming off a 24-41 loss to a Commanders team without Jayden Daniels. The Bears were in quite a hole starting 0-2 on the season, but now after this victory 2-2 before the bye looks very realistic.
