KALAMAZOO, Mich. — An upcoming fundraiser in Kalamazoo will have some notable guests.

The 43rd annual Drive for Life Foundation Gala, a benefit for the American Cancer Society and other charities, will take place at the Radisson Plaza on Sept. 25 at 5:30 p.m.

The event will feature Pat Ferschweiler, head coach for Western Michigan University Hockey.

Before becoming head hockey coach in 2021, Ferschweiler was an associate head coach for WMU from 2019 to 2021. He is a WMU alumnus, and a former captain of the Broncos hockey team from 1990 to 1993.

Additionally, NASCAR driver and Portage native Carson Hocevar will be helping with the event’s live auction.

Presented by Zeigler Auto Group, Greenleaf Trust, and Huntington National Bank, the Gala will benefit the American Cancer Society and other local and regional organizations.

The Gala raised $1 million last year, according to organizers, bringing the grand total for its benefactors to over $7.3 million over four decades.
