Law enforcement will be in the wooded area near where Bechand’s truck was found searching for him. Police believe may still be armed and dangerous.”There is a threat to the public, said Stu Smith, assistant chief inspector for the U.S. Marshals Services. “You have somebody who we think is responsible for committing a homicide who is now desperate, and on the run. So, yes, for those reasons, we think that there is concern for the public.”Police believe Bechand may have an injury on his left side. Their grid search is being concentrated within a 1.5-mile radius near the location where his truck was found. Police said they don’t believe he’s crossed the Canadian border because it’s about 40 miles from his truck.The investigation will continue for the foreseeable future, and there are currently between 30 and 50 people searching for Bechand each day. Smith detailed what makes this search so different.”So the one thing that is a little different, right, is that we are in this, this rugged environment in the Adirondacks,” said Smith. “That makes this search unique. We also have a scenario where, the last proof of life has been over a week now, right? Approaching two weeks. So, that can occur with other searches by comparison. But sometimes, you know, we’re just waiting for that breadcrumb of evidence or information that’s going to help lead us to capturing him.”To date, investigators have received more than 200 tips from the public as to Bechand’s whereabouts.Recently, police asked people in Brighton to submit any trail camera footage or surveillance camera footage that may help them locate Bechand.He is described as being 5 feet, 11 inches tall, with brown hair and hazel eyes. The U.S. Marshals Service has posted a $7,500 reward for anyone with information leading to Bechand’s arrest.
