SAN ANTONIO — As Bexar County approaches election day, the “Pueblo Over Profit Coalition” hosted a community conversation to discuss the proposed Spurs arena and the city’s downtown sports and entertainment district.

A key message from Saturday’s event was the desire for public funds to be redirected back into the community rather than towards a new arena. An organizer emphasized that the money should be used to invest in the city as a whole.

The proposed arena is expected to cost $1.3 billion, with the Spurs committing at least $500 million and agreeing to cover all cost overruns. Bexar County voters will decide on Nov. 4 whether to approve a venue tax that could contribute $311 million to Project Marvel by voting on Proposition B.
