Jaxson Dart shares thoughts on becoming NY Giants’ starting quarterback

Giants rookie Jaxson Dart discusses his approach in becoming the team’s starting quarterback.

EAST RUTHERFORD – The Giants are 0-3. Fans were chanting “We want Dart!” and cheering when rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart took the field last Sunday night for his three snaps, booing when he went back to the sideline and Russell Wilson trotted out into the huddle.

Now the intertwined fates of Brian Daboll, the head coach who loves him; Joe Schoen, the general manager who traded up to draft him; and Dart himself become the undeniable storyline for the remainder of the 2025 campaign.

That begins Sunday afternoon when Jim Harbaugh, Justin Herbert and the undefeated Chargers roll into MetLife Stadium for a 1 p.m. kickoff.

Can the Giants ride the momentum of a quarterback change in a game against a very good defense, a QB in Herbert who is an early contender for NFL MVP and a frustratingly bad history at home over the past two seasons? The Giants have lost nine of their last 10 games here and 17 of their last 20 games overall.

Keep checking back for live updates and analysis throughout the day from Giants-Chargers, Dart’s first career start:

Giants vs. Chargers predictions, picks, odds

Odds courtesy of BetMGM as of Wednesday, Sept. 24:

Spread: Chargers by 6 points

Over/under: 44.5 points

Moneyline: Chargers (-275), Giants (+225)

The pick: Chargers 28, Giants 17

Here’s why: The Chargers are in a much better place than the Giants right now. Could Big Blue get a bump with Jaxson Dart taking over as the starter? Maybe. And being at 3-0, the Chargers might overlook the Giants a little bit after their loss combined with Los Angeles’ big win over the Broncos. There is also the issue of the Chargers’ body clocks being at 10 a.m. at kickoff. In the end, it’s hard predicting the Giants making the decisive plays to win games right now.
