IRONDALE, Ala. – The city of Irondale marked Hispanic Heritage Month this month by unveiling a bilingual edition of “The Rainbow Fish” along its Storybook Walk.
Each page of the book is displayed in both English and Spanish, offering a unique cultural experience.
The initiative is part of the Irondale Community School Book Walk, where second and third graders have the chance to engage in cognitive and physical activities. The city has posts around its half-mile walking trail, with each post featuring a page of the book. The goal is to complete a lap around the track, reading an additional page as you pass each post. The project first opened to residents last year. It is located across the street from Irondale City Schools.
“There’s a new book waiting for you at the Irondale Storybook Walk! This month, enjoy the bilingual English/Spanish edition of The Rainbow Fish / El Pez Arcoiris— a beautiful tale of friendship, sharing, and building community. Take a story-filled stroll during Hispanic Heritage Month and celebrate the joy of reading and exercising,” the city said in an online statement.
