Jaxson Dart shares thoughts on becoming NY Giants’ starting quarterback

Giants rookie Jaxson Dart discusses his approach in becoming the team’s starting quarterback.

The Giants (0-3) are still in search of their first win of the season as they host the Los Angeles Chargers (3-0) on Sunday.

Following a 37-point outburst and 450-yard performance through the air from QB Russell Wilson in Week 2, the veteran QB reverted to a similar performance he had in Week 1 against the Commanders, where he was inefficient moving the ball downfield and couldn’t get the offense going at all in a 22-9 loss to the reigning AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday night.

So now it’s the rookie’s turn as Jaxson Dart will make his first NFL start in front of the home crowd at MetLife Stadium.

But it won’t be easy for the Giants as the Chargers are one of the six undefeated teams remaining in the NFL.

The Chargers looked poised for their first loss of 2025 this past Sunday, but rallied late as they scored 10 points in less than a minute to stun the Broncos, 23-20, in Los Angeles.

Brian Marron: 2-1

Bob Jordan: 1-2

Here are our staff predictions for the Giants home game versus the Chargers in Week 4:

Art Stapleton

The pick: Chargers 28, Giants 17

Here’s why: The Chargers are in a much better place than the Giants right now. Could Big Blue get a bump with Jaxson Dart taking over as the starter? Maybe. And being at 3-0, the Chargers might overlook the Giants a little bit after their loss combined with Los Angeles’ big win over the Broncos. There is also the issue of the Chargers’ body clocks being at 10 a.m. at kickoff. In the end, it’s hard predicting the Giants making the decisive plays to win games right now.

Bert Bainbridge

The pick: Chargers 28, Giants 14

Here’s why: Rookie QB Jaxson Dart gets the call under center for the first time, and keep in mind this could be a letdown spot for the Chargers, who are coming off that miraculous, late game comeback against the Broncos in Week 3 and are traveling east for a 1 p.m. game at MetLife.

Even if QB Justin Herbert and the Chargers offense get off to a slow start, this strong defensive unit will have enough to take this game over. Los Angeles will remain undefeated with a double digit victory, as the Chargers keep the Giants winless heading into Week 5.

Bob Jordan

The pick: Chargers 33, Giants 10

Here’s why: The Giants opened the week as almost a touchdown home underdog. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell should have by now suspended Chargers’ coach Jim Harbaugh due to the NCAA’s sanctions stemming from the Michigan sign-stealing scandal (there’s precedent) so this to many will be another tainted win by John’s brother.

Brian Marron

The pick: Chargers 31, Giants 10

Here’s why: The wheels are starting to come off following another ugly loss, and now the meek Giants offense has to face one of the best defenses in football. The Chargers should have little trouble handling Big Blue.

Dave Rivera

The pick: Chargers 27, Giants 17

Here’s why: Giants fans were chanting “We Want Dart!” last Sunday night, and now they’re getting their wish as rookie Jaxson Dart will make his first NFL start. He’ll wow the crowd a few times here and there, but the Chargers will pull away with the victory.

Chris Iseman

The pick: Chargers 34, Giants 14

Here’s why: The Chargers, fueled by Justin Herbert and a defense that’s among the best in the NFL, are a very good football team. The Giants are not.
