A new actor takes over as Thor from Chris Hemsworth in the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s latest release, and the star already manages to see Thor directly fight another MCU hero, settling a power debate. Hemsworth’s Thor franchise has consistently seen the hero’s power levels grow, with the God of Thunder being one of the MCU’s most powerful heroes.
Thor has fought several incredibly powerful characters, such as Thanos, the Hulk, and many more. However, there are quite a few MCU players that Thor has not had the opportunity to fight one-on-one yet in the franchise. Recently, one of the MCU’s best TV shows allowed a dream battle for Thor to happen, but Hemsworth did not play him.
Thor Finally Fights The Scarlet Witch But With No Chris Hemsworth
Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Marvel Zombies.Hemsworth’s Thor appears in both live-action and animation in the MCU, with the latter seeing the actor voice the hero in What If…? However, the original member of the Avengers does not return to voice Thor in Marvel Zombies, with another actor, Greg Furman, taking over as Thor for the multiverse MCU project. This version of Thor is different from Hemsworth’s in a key way.
After being blasted by zombie Thanos with the full might of the Infinity Stones, Furman’s Thor has part of his body heavily damaged. He stays silent for five years before finally deciding to act once again to stall the Scarlet Witch’s undead army and allow Ms. Marvel and her superhero team to escape. This leads to a direct Thor vs Scarlet Witch fight.
Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch stand as two of the MCU’s most powerful heroes. As such, fans have long been comparing the characters’ power levels. While the circumstances are different from a main MCU battle, Marvel Zombies sees the undead Scarlet Witch prove herself to be too much for the injured Thor, killing Thor and transforming him into a zombie.
Could Chris Hemsworth’s Thor Ever Fight Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch?
Thor stands out in Thor: love and thunder
While Greg Furman’s Thor was the one to fight Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, Hemsworth’s God of Thunder could still get his shot at Wanda Maximoff in live-action. In the comics, after the Scarlet Witch was presumed dead, the character reappeared with Doctor Doom. The MCU could do the same, bringing back Wanda in Avengers: Doomsday.
If she teams up with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, the Scarlet Witch should fight Hemsworth’s Thor, who is confirmed for the upcoming Avengers movie. However, after Wanda was last seen realizing her mistakes and destroying all the Darkholds, the MCU could have a redemption story in mind for her. That would make a fight with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor difficult.
