MISSOULA, Mont. — The Wyoming Game and Fish Department reports two grizzly bear cubs were captured and relocated on September 21 after repeated hazing attempts failed to deter them from frequenting a residence on private land.

Working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Shoshone National Forest, wildlife officials moved the cubs — one male and one female — to the Clarks Fork River drainage about 26 miles northwest of Cody.

The agency says relocations are conducted in accordance with state and federal regulations to reduce conflicts between bears and people while supporting long-term conservation efforts.

Game and Fish is required to notify the public whenever a grizzly bear is relocated, as part of its management responsibilities under federal law.
