There’s a new hotel property coming to the historic Fort Worth Stockyards from White Lodging, an operator that specializes in urban and lifestyle hospitality development, ownership and operations.

The privately held company, which operates more than 50 Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt hotels in major urban markets, has acquired a 3.5-acre parcel in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards, at 400 E. Exchange Ave. — a patch of land that has been eyed by previous developers — where it is exploring plans to transform the site with a hotel and inhouse restaurant, as well as opportunities for larger mixed-use destination amenities.

“The Stockyards represent a unique intersection of history and opportunity,” says White Lodging vice chair and chief investment officer Conner White in a statement. “We are thrilled to be part of shaping its next chapter with additional economic development and investment.”

“While our plans are still taking shape, there is so much potential in the site,” White says. “Our vision is to create a place that celebrates the character of the district while introducing new experiences for visitors and locals alike.”

This is White Lodging’s first project in the Dallas/Fort Worth area since the late 1990s. Across Texas in Austin and San Antonio, White Lodging has 16 premium brand hotels and more than 20 independently branded restaurants, bars and rooftops.

In total, White Lodging’s portfolio includes approximately 60 hotels, more than 50 restaurants and bars, and a collection of luxury ranches including the award-winning Brush Creek Ranch.

White Lodging was established in 1985 by the late Bruce White, and has evolved into one of the country’s largest privately held, multi-generational hospitality companies focused exclusively on urban and lifestyle properties.

The company develops, owns, and operates a portfolio of hotels and restaurants in destination-driven markets, including Austin, Chicago, Denver, Nashville, Indianapolis, and Louisville.

Their portfolio consists of approximately 60 premium hotels; a private collection of world-renowned luxury ranches; 50 independently branded, award-winning restaurants; and 10 rooftop bars.
